I never really had a problem finding time to make it to the gym. I have been really lucky up until now.. I started a new part time job, which I really enjoy, except for the fact that im gone all day, or sometimes night, and dont have time for anything else. This mainly meaning my workouts.
We hear all the time about how there are no excuses to not working out. There are 24 hours in a day, use them wisely.  Up until now, I have given everyone a hard time that doesnt work out because of lack of time. Now I am finally put in a position to where I see what they mean.
BUT!! There are still no excuses!! You have to be determined to get the work done.  Use your lunch break for a quick workout, do some lunges or chair squats, ( which I did while at work the other day).  Pushups are always good, take a walk, take the stairs.
Food, how can I eat well when im stuck at work, and no time to eat?  PLAN PLAN PLAN,, and then PLAN some more :).  I have packed my lunch everyday so far.  Salads, with lean protein, some sadwiches can be good. Chicken breast and veggies, tuna on low carb wrap. Always have good snacks available. DO NOT even walk by the vending machine.. The mms will stare you down. Bring fruit, or protein bars, or almonds, even greek yogurt is a great snack.  The more you have planned, the less things seem to get in the way..
So no excuses still stands true,, if you need some ideas for workouts let me know..

So I was looking forward to monday.  The kids start school, all three of them.  More time for me!! YAY!! Well, thats what I thought.
I started working 12 hours shifts, helping some family doing in home care.  My second day is tomorrow, and then i work monday and tuesday.  Im not complaining, bc I enjoy working,,,,, sometimes ,,, :).  But my plan of going to the gym while the kids were in school has been put back.  Im kinda of sadend by this. I was looking forward to running, and doing more cardio, and eating the way i should.  I was looking forward to having a routine back. Now I have to work even harder to get my gym time in..
I will not let this get in the way of my goals. Sometimes it feels like mountains keep falling in front of us. Weather it be for fitness or other life goals.  WE have to stay strong, and work harder to get past obsticles.  If you want something bad enough, and set your sights high,, there is no way you can fail.
So dont give up on your goals!! I won't... :)
I have decided to go through yet another phase of training! I am soo ready to lean out.. I would love to share some of the things I go through with you!  Today is day one of my leanout phase. Let me tell you,, It is not going to be easy!
Ok, So I have set a goal, which is step one, I have a plan, which is step two. So the final step would be to follow the plan.. Well so far so good!
I had an awesome workout at the gym today!  I have been lifting heavy for the last month and a half, which was probably way to long! Now its time to slim down, and uncover what I have been working so hard to accomplish.  Today I started Interval training,, and let me tell you,, It kicked my butt!  I walked out of the gym drenched!! This is totally not normal for me. Especially since I have been putting cardio off for far too long!
So now it comes down to food!  This is a MAJOR factor for me,, and all of you :).  I have planned out what I should be eating, and the fun part is to stick to it.. High protien, moderate carbs, in the morning, and healthy fats.. Doesnt sound too hard. But for someone who loves to eat,, this could be the hardest part!  Even harder than pumping out all that much needed cardio ! LOL!  But if you have a goal set, and know the way to get there, the work should be a little easier!
Keep checking back for my progress!  If your lucky I might even post some pics!  And for some of you reading this,, Ill see you in the gym :)
Ok, raise your hand if you like sugar! I mean any type of sugar,, chocolate, candy,, Ice cream.. I dont know of many people who can get by without having, or wanting or craving sugar.  My craving times are right around bedtime,, probably the worst time to eat sugar..  So is there a good time to have a sugar fix???? YES!  And it can actually be benifitial to our training.. YEAH!!
In my last blog I discussed 3 phases of training. Energy, Anabolic, And Growth.  These phases are all crucial to providing acurate nutrition to our bodies.  And The second phase would be the best time to have sugar... Why? why would you workout , and bust your butt in the gym, only to have some gummie bears, or honey, or whatever you might crave?  It all comes down to insulin.
When you have just completed a strenuous workout, your body is depleted of all glycogen stores. Also your muscles have been broken down, and are in need of nutrients, to help build them back up, better and stronger.  Right after your workout, your body is highly sensitive to insulin, and its effect on the body, however, it diminishes quickly.  So timing your sugar fix is important.
Immediately after your workout is done,, im not talking about the ride home eaither,, I mean when you are walking out the gym,, You should supplement your workout with a source of high glycimic carbs. and protien.  These high glycimic carbs act as a jet, carrying other nutrients directly, and quickly to your depleted muscle, and start to aide in recovery.. If you dont supplement your workouts soon enough, you could actually be doing your body more harm than good.
Some ideas for post workout meal could be a protien shake with moderate carbs, and a handful of gummy bears.  Honey is also a great way to shoot the nutrients right to your muscle.  Gatoraide, and protien is also a great combination.  My all time fav is a scoop of protein with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.. When I leave the gym, I have my sandwich in one hand, and my protien in the other. I can actually feel my muscles geting the nutrients they need..
So give it a try... Go to the gym, work hard, and curb your sweetooth while doing something productive :). Just make sure you dont over do it.. A whole bag of gummie bears will not make your body recover faster :(..
