So i am going to try harder to focus on my health, instead of my jeans size! Mabye at some point they will catch up with each other!!
I was walking out of church today, and the guy in front of me had levis on.. The size is right on the tag.. 32x34.. I personally would not wear my jean size on the outside of my pants.. We are so worried about what size we are, and how much we weigh. Why cant we focus more on our health, and what we feed our bodies? Our health should be more important than our jean size. And why are we so eager to tell everyone about losing weight? ( me included,,lol). We should be eager to tell everyone how weve gone all week without eating a greasy burger, or a glass full of sugar!

I posted a recipe using Shirataki noodles.. I was quite nervous about trying this recipe, as I have never tried these type of noodles before.. For those of you not familiar with them,, they are very low carb, low calorie, gelatinous noodles made from elephant yams,,,. Yeah,, weird.. But hey Im game to try new stuff if it means i am cutting calories, and still able to enjoy pasta, or things I might not normally eat too much of, because of its nutrient value..
I made the recipe I posted recently,, alfredo type noodles, w a creamlike sauce.. As soon as I opened the pack of noodles,, I knew it was going to be bad.. OMG, the smell was soo bad.. So i soaked the noodles, like directed, and followed the recipe to a T,, and well,, lets just say they were not eaten,, and lets just say when I set them outside for my cats,, they were not touched.. There are so many products out there, healthier, less calories,, fat free, sugar free,, and on and on.. But I would rather eat less, or a healthier version of the normal.. There are ways to eat healthy without depriving yourself of the NORM.. I think my favorite pasta right now is Barilla plus. Although i dont eat a lot of pasta,, its nice to have on occasion.. FEEDBACK,,, let me know if you have a favorite health food.. Its good to share in the wealth of health :) This week is spring break for my kids.. We took a trip to Busch Gardens for 2 days, and had a great time :).. I did lots of walking, and not so much eating.. But I did manage to have a drink.. We stayed at a nice hotel with an awesome pool! very big, and heated.. The kids had a blast , and i was actually able to sit and chill for a bit.. This chilling also included a tall pina colada, topped with a little blue umbrella and fresh pinneapple. Now pina coladas arent my favorite, but it wasn bad, and it deffinately did the trick.. So drinking by the pool might be relaxing,, but probably not the best thing to do while sitting in a bikini.. I mean drinking calories doesnt make sense to me.. I would much rather eat my calories.. So I found a recipe for pina coladas in my Hungry Girl recipe book.. So here it is...
Pina Colada Freeze 1 1/2 oz coconut rum 1 1/2 oz sugar free calorie free coconut syrup 1/4 c fat free vanilla ice cream 1 Tbsp canned crushed pinneapple in juice 1 no calorie sweetener 1 cup crushed ice Place all ingredients in blender and mix till completely blended. 156 calories, 18g carbs, 12g sugar, 2 g protien Now I wouldnt have too many of these,, so sip slow :) But enjoy yourself,, there are always way to substitue things, you just have to be creative .. have a great spring break! For most of us, Spring break is officially here.. I hope you remembered to set your clock back.. I just came in from outside, and its a bit chilly,, My heat is running.. But It is supposed to warm up to the 80s all week.. I have missed the warm weather, and I am glad its finally trying to warm up..
So are you ready for the warm weather? Are you ready to put that bikini on and take a stroll on the beach? I hope everyone has been working hard at their goals.. There will always be some type of deadline,, to lose that last 5-10 lbs,, or to tone up for spring break.. Or to look amazing on that summer cruise.. Whatever the goal might be,, just stay focused on bettering yourself everyday.. Staying fit is not a time crunch,, its an everyday challenge.. I hope everyone has a great spring break! I am taking the kids to Busch Gardens 2 days, and to the beach another.. What is Spring break without the beach?..Cant wait to walk along the beach in my bikini :).. I have worked hard, and im ready to relax, and take in the beauty of nature. To all of you,, keep working hard, and maybe ill see you at the beach! :) For all of us in Florida, Spring break is only a week away.. Many of us have set goal;s to drop a couple pounds, to be swimsuit ready fro srping break.. Well ,,, Did you make it? I know I am so ready for spring break. I love taking time with the kids, and going to the beach, or hang by the pool. I have not quite met my weight goal, but I do feel pretty confident in myself.
Today I think I might go in search of a swim suit. This is not an easy task! Not all suits are created equal! It seems suits are made with less fabric than they used to be, which makes for more motivation to actually get into one. I think we are given such a high standard to live up to. Many of us have children, which means we wont be laying on the beach chair all day, we will be up chasing kids. So finding the suit that allows us to run around is quite the challenge. If you have not quite made your goals, keep reaching for them. Summer break will be here before we know it! Keep your cardio up, and your food under control! Keep the image of that bikini in your mind.. That should deffiantely keep you motivated! I know I tend to write about things I see at the gym. But there is a reason for it. There are so many wrong things that go on it the gym. Most of them go unlooked, and I am shocked there have not been more injuries due to complete idocracy. Lets take today for instance..... There was a new guy, well one ive never seen before,, In the gym working out. He was doing various excecises, but caught my eye when he was doing the leg press. He kept adding more and more plates, and i lost count, but it was loaded! Now this guy was not very big, and I was kinda shocked he could do that amount of weight.. Then he started pressing.... he pressed it up, and it bounced back, and repeated probably 12 or more times.. Now this movement was not slow and steady, it was more of a bouncing movement.. I was just waiting for his knee to pop on him,, or something bad happen... It didnt thank goodness.. But why did he have to put so many plates on,, just to do the excercise the wrong way??
The number one thing I have been taught, and learned over time,, is form in the most important thing to know when working with weights. Our joints and tendons and muscles are meant to work in certain ways, and if we put the wrong amount of stress or weight on them ,, it could be bad. Now Im not saying that lifting heavy is bad.. You guys should know me by now.. I love lifting heavy.. I actually got a personal record on the leg press last week! Very exciting! But I did not bounce the weight off my feet, I slowly lowered and pressed,, and I had a spotter, in case i couldnt press it up.. I just want everyone to be safe, and be aware that there is a proper form for every excercise. If you are questionable about something ,don't do it until you are sure of the proper form. It is not worth being injured, just to show up someone else in the gym. Or to impress the other guys in the gym. Happy Lifting! :) Lately I have been feeling really tired, and wore out. Like I have been going without stop for a long time. Which is actually true. So today will be 2 days in a row that I have not been to the gym, or done any weight training.. I soo needed this break. We all need time to rest, for our bodies to recover from the work we put it through. So if you are feeling wore out make sure you take a couple days off,, maybe even a week. Resting is part of working out. And if we dont rest, our bodies will not work to its ability.. Take a break now and then, YOu will actually be doing it good.
I dont know about you, but I love peanut butter! I can eat it right off the spoon. And we all know the right kind of peanut butter is good for us,, but only in moderation.. I deffinately do not know how to moderate peanut butter intake.. So today I placed my first order for some PB2. For those of you who have never heard of this, it is a powdered form of peanut butter.. All you do is add water, and boom!! peanut butter, which has fewer calories, and less fat!
For all of us who are trying to drop weight, or get in shape or the combination of the two, we are constantly looking for things to make our "diet " easier. I will let you know what I think of this product as soon as it arrives at my door! In the meantime,, I will try my hardest to control the intake of the high calorie/fat type thats in my pantry right now. AS I sit on the leg extension machine waiting for my legs to recover from the last set, I spot a woman holding a DunknDonuts cup. Now this cup was not filled with water,, it was quite obvious that it was full of coffee,, and im guessing it was loaded with sugar, as most iced coffees are. I just shook my head in wonder, how can she work out while drinking an ice coffee? Now Im not putting down ice coffee, or the fact that we all have our downfalls. Im just in awe how you can workout at the same time as you are putting crap in the body.. That would be like me eating a twinkie while walking on the treadmill. Am I right? Anyways, I gave her the benefit of doubt, and said, hmm its prob sugar free, and in that case it wouldnt be quite as bad. I went on with my workout, and it ended up to be one of my best! I set a PR today! And I am so ready to keep them coming.
As I walked slowly out of the gym after a killer leg day, I see the same woman who was inside drinking an iced latte', light up a cigarette. That totally just blew my mind. I mean not only is she taking in crap while working out, she took 5 steps outside, not only to light up a cigarette. Now I am nowhere near perfect when it comes to eating, and I have quite the bad habit of drinking diet coke. But shouldnt there be a line drawn to where we stop abusing our bodies? Did the woman in the gym even accopmlish anything, other than thinking she is helping herself by going throught the motions? Health has nothing to do with going to the gym, it has everything to do with trying to eat the right foods, and excercising enough to notice change. It has nothing to do with telling others how far you walked on the treadmill, but everything to do with seeing how far you can push yourself to acheive a certain goal. I hope everyone reading this blog has some type of goal. And I hope you try everything you can to reach that goal. But make sure you do it for the right reasons. Strive for health, take little steps everyday to get closer to your goal. Dont fool yourself by drinking iced lattes at home, only to walk on the treadmill for 30 mins, hoping to burn off the crap you just ate. And if you have to light up a cigarette, please wait till you leave the parking lot of the gym, because its just not right! Check out the recipe for turkey meatballs on the recipe page! I made these last week, and they are delish! You can also freeze them! That is deffinately a plus!
